Tim Burton. You either love him or hate him. He’s remaking Dark Shadows, he has an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty in the works, as well as has been rumored to be taking on The Addams Family. I was a fan of his earlier, original work, but .. well, view the video below to see what I think about Tim Burton. Enjoy!
Said to be the demi-spawn of the Old Ones, Dementia was conjured up in Darkness (some say by the devil himself) in a small village in the Banewoods where she began her torrid love affair with all things supernatural horror. She has been sighted chasing serial killers, cavorting with demons, exploiting ghostly entities, and fiendishly plotting with various nocturnal bloodthirsty creatures. These sightings have lead to a small but devout cult following to spring up around her at the various conventions she attends. Dementia spends her free time designing epic costumes, being a snarky horror snob, and generally enslaving humanity. Beware the woods at night… beware the lunar light…
I was a big Burton fan growing up till lately. Everything recent just became the same and made Depp the main character for all his movies now. I didn’t care for Sweeney Todd (I thought it was overrated), Charlie & the Chocolate Factory was blah (the original is better – you can’t out do Gene Wilder), and Alice in Wonderland sucked. Depp was a terrible Mad Hatter. I felt the Hatter should’ve been played by Martin Short or Steve Buscemi. Only thing good in that movie was the Jabberwocky voiced by Christopher Lee.
I think the last good movies he did were Big Fish & Sleepy Hollow.
I would like to see him go back to his roots and actually be creative & have different looks to his films like he use to. Back when he did Pee-Wee, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice & Ed Wood.
I would also like to see him use different f%^king actors or at least work with the ones he use to. Like Jack Nicholson, Jeffery Jones,Wynonna Ryder or Michael Keaton again. I don’t want to see Johnny Depp in all his effing movies, I like Depp I don’t hate him. I just don’t want to see him be the star all the time. There are other great actors he could work with. Same goes for his wife.
And I rather he leave The Addams Family alone. If he does it as an animation or clay work like Nightmare before. I’m cool with that. But if he wants to do it as a live movie. UH UH I don’t want it to happen. Cause we all know Depp & Helena will probably be Gomez & Morticia.
I’m sorry Sonnenfield’s Addam’s Family was just simply superb. Not even Depp & Helena can do what Raul Julia & Angelica Huston did in those movies. I grew up on the tv show and I to this day I still think the movie cast was better than the tv show cast. I just loved everyone in that movie. When I think of the Addam’s I think of them.
I thought Sonnenfield did such a great job with the Addams’s I thought maybe he could pull off a Munsters movie adaptation.
I have been a (non-rabid) fan of Burton’s for a long time, too. I enjoy his films, and i love the odd worlds he creates. But i agree that his talent has waned of late. Alice bored me, and i was surprised that it did so well in the theaters. He took all of the “wonder” out of Wonderland.
And i loves me some Johnny Depp. I’d watch him read the phone book. Twice. In a row! But i agree again that it’s time to make movies with others, not the same people over & over again. At this point, it is almost as though Burton is making fan-films with his friends – he just has a bigger budget than most to play with.
Dementia has a *genius* idea for Burton to remake. Not any of the ones that are being rumored, but something even better that could definitely use a remake and would be perfect for “Burtonization”. I’ll let her tell everyone what that is.

Ok, that was hilarious!
