Horror Costume of The Month – Baby Firefly

Spring is here! Flowers bloom, animals get frisky, and fireflies come out to play. Our favorite firefly? Baby Firefly.

April’s Costume of the month is the lovely and twisted Baby Firefly from House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects portrayed by Connor.

Why did you choose baby?

It was originally suggested to me to do a Sheri Moon Zombie costume since she is pretty much the hottest, horror, psychopath chick out there. Baby was actually the second Sheri Moon costume I did. I first I chose to do was her Werewolf Women of the S.S. costume from Rob Zombie’s Grindhouse since no one else had done the costume and the trailer was pretty much the shiznit. Hot Nazi, Shewolves, taking over. How can you go wrong? 🙂

We heard your costume won an award? Tell us about it.

The Baby costume came about from a Baby Firefly look-a-like contest on MySpace. I threw together a torn up shirt and cut up some jeans. I didn’t have a hat so that was added in after through Photoshop. I won the contest with the votes from a bunch of great friends and won a magazine called Girls and Corpses. It was kinda morbid but so weird that I had to keep it.

You make an amazing Baby. Any pointers on how you made some of her outfits?

My second attempt at the costume was a little more organized but just as easy. I shredded a pair of jeans I got at a thrift store, bloodied up a white tank top, and bought a cowboy hat. Then I found a used trench coat, added on some fur trim, grabbed a fake knife, and was ready to get my psycho cutie on!

Best time dressed as Baby. Go!

My best time wearing it was at Screamfest 2008 when I did the Baby dance and song from Devil’s Rejects for my girl De7en. I heart you woman!

If you know a horror costume that’s beyond horrific and deserves some scare-time, send a submission including character name, costumer’s preferred moniker, a photo, and contact information to the MurderHers.
