Two weekends ago De7en and Meg headed out to one of our favorite conventions – Spooky Empire’s May-Hem in Orlando, Florida for a fun-filled weekend of booze, boobs, and blood. And the results?
Although only the 2nd year for May-Hem - definitely one of the best yet.
May-Hem is the summer’s answer to Spooky Empire’s ultimate October show – albeit smaller and hot as balls, it managed to score guests the likes of Linda Hamilton (Terminator), Ace Frehley (KISS), and Lita Ford (All around horror GODDESS), and still provide attendees with plenty of entertainment, a pretty decent zombie walk, and a killer spread of tattoo artists and decently priced swag.
One of the highlights of the convention was Mucklebone’s Monster Museum and their incredible three-dimensional monster displays of some of horror’s most infamous creatures of the night. And of course, meeting the aforementioned Linda Hamilton. One of the most bad ass women in cinematic history – also happens to be a totally rad woman. She made sure to spend ample time with each fan (which led to a very long line), but? Very worth the wait.
If you’ve ever got the means – we highly recommend scoring yourself a VIP pass to one of Spooky‘s events. Sure, they can be pricey – but well worth it! For the price of a VIP badge, you get lots of goodies (T-shirt, event swag, etc) and admission to the badass VIP party where you get to mix & mingle with the attending celebs. Better still? You don’t have to wait in line for NUTHIN. VIP gets you to the front of the lines for all celebs, events, and everything else there is to do. Treat yourself, you won’t regret it!
And did we mention the tattoo artists? Spooky Empire are big fans of tattooing, and their con-inclusive Tattoo Festival always includes some of the most kick-ass artists from around the country. Concerned about getting inked at a convention? Don’t be! These artists are licensed professionals working with sterile equipment in a controlled environment – it’s perfectly safe. Just ask De7en! And? You’ll be getting ink from some of the best artists there are – doing the things that they love to do, surrounded by good times and good people. You’ll thank yourself and love your new art, trust us.
The pool party was bitching and the zombie walk had a pretty decent showing considering the heat and time of the year. All in all? Another great May-Hem for the books.
So if you were considering checking out May-Hem or Spooky Empire’s October Show (October 26-28th), we’d highly recommend it. And keep an eye out for us at the Hilton’s bitching lazy river this October!
