I will admit the following 3 movies are my personal favorites though they’re not known for their quality. Judge me all you want! They are cheesy awesome fun!
A couple of these movies have pretty big stars that were not so big back in the day. One persevered through midnight showings with a shadow cast and another is a Horror Icon! All of these movies are known for their cult status. For me, these movies were always either on TNT or VH1 growing up around Halloween time. So check out my top 3 guilty pleasure movies great for Halloween!
1. Transylvania 6-5000 (1985)
Starring: Jeff Goldblum, Ed Begley, Jr., Joseph Bologna, Geena Davis, Michael Richards, Carol Kane, Teresa Ganzel, John Byner and Jeffrey Jones
Director: Rudy De Luca
Plot: Two reporters travel to a strange castle in Transylvania to investigate the apparent reappearance of Frankenstein, and encounter such kooky creatures as the sensitive Wolfman, the horny Vampiress Odette, as well as a whole cast of other weirdos.
Thoughts: Horror comedy gold, I tell you!!! Pretty big names in the cast, but back in 1985 a lot of them were just starting out. Like Michael Richards as the Bellman. Geena Davis, Odette the Horny Vampire, cracks me up every time. Carol Kane and John Byner are just perfect together. If you don’t find this movie funny get your funny bone checked out. It might be broken!
2. Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Starring: Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richard O’Brien, Patricia Quinn, Nell Campbell, Jonathan Adams, Peter Hinwood, Meat Loaf, Charles Gray
Director: Jim Sharman
Plot: A newly engaged couple have a breakdown in an isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Thoughts: Hot patootie bless my soul! I really love The Rocky Horror Picture Show. A cast of pure magic! Tim Curry as the Sweet Transvestite Dr Frank-N-furter, Susan Sarandon & Barry Bostwick as the newly engaged couple whose life will forever be changed after their run in with the Doctor. I have been in love with this Horror Musical since I was 13 years old. This movie has had a cult following with midnight shows all over the world. It’s not just a movie, it’s almost a lifestyle for a lot of RHPS fans. With shadow casts acting out the movie while it plays on a screen behind them, it’s a great time, if you have never been to a live show, I highly suggest it. 3. Elvira Mistress of the Dark (1988)

The campy classic Elvira Mistress of the Dark staring Cassandra Peterson, Phil Rubenstein and Larry Flash Jenkins
Starring: Cassandra Peterson, Phil Rubenstein, and Larry Flash Jenkins
Director: James Signorelli
Plot: When her Great Aunt dies, famed horror hostess Elvira heads for the uptight New England town of Falwell to claim her inheritance of a haunted house, a witch’s cookbook, and a punk rock poodle. But once the stuffy locals get an eyeful of the scream queen’s ample assets, all hell busts out and breaks loose. Can the Madonna of the Macabre find love with a studly cinema owner, avoid her creepy Great Uncle, titillate the town’s teens and become a Las Vegas dance sensation all without being burned alive at the stake
Thoughts: This movie is all sorts of cheesy, funny, sexy, and camp-tastic! I wish my aunt left me that kind of “cookbook” and dog! One of my favorite scenes is the town picnic!!! Once again with the 2 other movies I picked. The cast of characters are amazing, this one was like the bit part actors of the 80’s. Plus it’s Elvira, the woman is who all little horror girls wanna be when they grow up!
These 3 movies will make you have a boo-tactular Halloween season! With a mix of laughs, cringing, and making you feel a little dirty after watching them! What are your favorite guilty pleasure movies for the Halloween Season?

Until right now, I never realized how much Odette and Frank-N-furter look alike. Amazing.
