Release: March 1, 2013 (limited)
Starring: Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode
Director: Chan-wook Park
Plot: After India’s (Mia Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
Thoughts: This is a twisted tale of a daughter losing a parent and falling for the charms of a creepy uncle. Seems to me she will be taking up the family business of killing. It’s like Lolita meets Dexter. I love these kinds of twisted family stories. Plus Nicole Kidman playing the mother jealous of her coming-of-age daughter? Perfect! 2013 is shaping up to be a horrifically good year for movies.
