Gores Truly digs the work Scares That Care does – a few years ago we even held a calendar campaign with all proceeds going directly to Scares That Care. We also dig horror conventions. So when an organization we support puts together a show where all of the proceeds go to families in need instead of into the pockets of the organizers (not that there’s anything wrong with turning a personal profit on a convention), it gives us a reason to go to Williamsburg, Virginia. (Although I can’t actually make it to this convention – if you can and want to do a write-up/review of it, please let one of the Gores Truly MurderHers know!)
Scares That Care Weekend takes place June 27 – 29 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Williamsburg, Virginia. Like any good convention, they have quite a few celebrity guests, artists, and authors listed as attending as well as an assortment of vendors. As far as events go, there are various panels to attend, meet and greets, silent auctions, signings, “scaryoake”, make-up and costume contests, a film festival, and even a late night adults-only burlesque show (fake blood and pasties, please!).
You’ll likely see tons of gore-geous costumes (and probably some Rubies costumes too) and fans of all sorts. There’s even going to be a raffle for this sweet life-sized Bride of Frankenstein bust. Donated by Blackheart Models and painted by Russ Wrangler.
This looks like a mid-summer event not to miss! At only $40 for a weekend pass, this is such a great deal for a convention. And for a cause that entirely benefits those in need going through some real-life horrors? Totally worth the price-tag.
Seriously, if you go, could you please pick me up one of these sweet shirts (size small)?!
