Lost Boys actor Brooke McCarter Dies at 52

brooke-mccarterBrooke McCarter, the actor who horror fans recognize from his role in Lost Boys, passed away on December 22, 2015 due to liver failure. For the last year, he was battling the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT).  The family revealed the loss via the actor’s Facebook page.

The horror community has enjoyed his portrayal of Paul since the film debuted in 1987 and its popularity will surely continue for generations.

McCarter’s family has requested that donations be made to the Alpha-1 foundation which continues to research a cure for the condition which caused this actor to lose his life too soon. You can find out more about McCarter’s relationship with the Alpha-1 foundation and how you can help here.

It’s heartbreaking that the horror community has lost yet another long standing icon this year. Lost Boys was the first horror film for many, and the loss of this actor wounds many of us. May he rest in peace, and may the Alpha-1 Foundation receive additional research funds due to the attention his passing can bring to this terrible condition.
